Jonathan will suffer an embarrassing defeat if he fights against Tinubu – Jandor

Adediran Dr. Abdul-Azeez, known as Jandor, has warned former President Goodluck Jonathan not to surrender to the pressure that urged him to re-enter the 2027 Presidential Race, insist that it would be a political disaster.

Adediran, who was a candidate for the Governor of the Democratic Party (PDP) of the people in Lagos in 2023 and the leader of the Lagos4lagos Movement, told journalists in Lagos on Sunday that Jonathan did not stand against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to him, participating will not be a “political risk” for the former president, because Tinubu’s grip on politics is unmatched.

He argued: “I do not agree with the people who call for Jonathan to do it, people who say Jonathan is the only person who can challenge Tinubu, quote his popularity and experience. So, the same person (Tinubu) who defeated him (Jonathan) from outside.

Adediran said Jonathan must remain retired rather than let himself be misled by those who urged him into what he described as “an embarrassing defeat.”

“If you accidentally find yourself in Aso Villa as president, it is different from someone who gives everything to get there. This is different from someone who, with all obstacles, get there. They do all kinds to not get there, and he gets there. Such a man cannot be inserted side by side with someone who has just slept and wakes up and find himself in the president’s chair,” he argues.

The Head of the PDP tribe further advised Jonathan to heed his wife’s advice, Patience Jonathan, who also openly appealed to him not to fight.

He added: “Tinubu is a master in political games, which cannot be defeated by Jonathan or other figures in 2027.”

While rejecting Jonathan’s chances of removing Tinubu, Jandor praised the president’s leadership style and economic policy, which he said had given results.

“We don’t say everything is fine, but at least the President has shown the courage to take our inheritance with our pockets on the name of fuel subsidies and return it to the state, state and local government. Now the allocation is tripled; not that the money is collected and detained at the center, the state government and local now have enough money to influence life,” he said.

He compared this with the Buhari era, given that “countries will go to Abuja for the FAAC meeting and continue with zero allocation.”

Adediran also praised the handling of Tinubu against the foreign exchange market, saying: “That is no longer a problem now. We can not have a billionaire last night through corruption practices in foreign currencies. This man stopped it.”

Although acknowledging that reforms have caused temporary difficulties, he insisted that if the state and local government used an effective increase in allocation, the impact would immediately relieve pain.

“At the macro level, the economy has taken an angle, no doubt, but micro, of course, it takes time before dripping down,” he said.

Adiran also urged the Nigerian armed forces to provide maximum support of President Tinubu in overcoming security challenges throughout the country.
