Katsina: 287 former aspirants, candidates download PDP for the coalition

Former candidates and aspiring for the positions of the assembly, of the presidency and the councilor, in the previous elections under the Democratic Party of the people (PDP) in Katsina, they unloaded the party.

Freedomonline reports that the competitors, numbered 287, made the decision to join the coalition of political parties.

Speaking at a meeting in Katsina Thursday, Malam Jamilu Yahaya, president of the forum of the aspirants of the Assembly Chamber, said that their decision to join the coalition was informed by their desire to make positive changes.

According to him, before taking this decision of 25 of them, the series of meetings took place from the members, who in the end decided to download the PDP and join the coalition.

He explained that there were about 20 % of their members who were still in PDP’s possession positions, but assured that before the next general elections they would united.

Yahaya assured the leadership of the coalition according to which new members were faithful and ready to join any political party that the leadership has decided to be part of.

In addition, the president of the forum of the aspiring of the local government presidency, Alhaji Yasir Ibrahim, said that betrayal and deception in the PDP, forced about 13 to leave the party.

He said: “We were called to contest the position of the presidents of the local government, but unfortunately we were deceived by a party faction.

“We fought to obtain the expression of the forms of interest, but with our biggest surprise, our names have not been subjected to the electoral body”.

According to him, Pdp is no longer a party of opposition in the state, “hence our decision to join the coalition for a stronger opposition”.

The president of the forum of the aspirants of the councilors, Malam Aminu Yunusa, expressed the readiness of its members to work with the coalition to save the state and the country as a whole.

He added that before their decision to join the movement, he had to make sure that his members, who counted about 247, would be carried out on the new trip.

Freedomonline reports that during the meeting, two candidates from the assembly chamber pursuant to the PDP in the previous elections also joined the coalition.

Previously, the leader of the coalition, Alhaji Mustapha Inuwa, expressed happiness for the decision of the new members, ensuring every member of equal treatment.

He advised the members of the coalition to exercise patience, ensuring that the interested parties were working tirelessly to provide a right political party for them.

Receiving the new members, Senator Ahmed Babba-Kaita, he said: “I know the value of the new members and their struggle in the PDP before leaving.

“The new members have been deceived by the party’s faction, so their decision to join the coalition is very welcomed.

“The next general elections will be between the APC and the masses. It is not a hidden question, nobody doubts that the Nigerians are suffering.”
