Kebbi’s students elect new leaders

A student of Medicine and Surgery, Federal University, Birnin Kebbi, Ahijo Sa’idu Bakuwai, is now the new president of the National Union of Kebbi Students (Nukess) after his victory on a highly contested electoral Sunday.

Bakuwai got 29 votes to defeat his closest rival, Anas Umar Faruq of the Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Alieru, who obtained 27 votes.

Accredited delegates of specific numbers, who represent the students of the state origin in the tertiary institutions at national level, participated in the polls held at the Kebbi State College of Nursing Sciences, Bernin Kebbi.

The president of the Convention planning Committee, Ahmad Ja’afar of the University of Usmanu Danfodio Sokoto, who presided over the elections, announced the winner of the strawberry tree from his supporters.

The special consultant of the governor on the issues of the students, Majo Muhammad, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the elections and the ordered way of the students.

The special consultant of the governor in special duties, Shafi’u Abubakar Zauro, who supervised the polls, recalled that the governor Nasir Idris, urged students to support democratic principles and strengthen the practice of democracy to accelerate the rhythm for achieving national progress and prosperity.
