Kogi provides the South-South community with equipment and cash support

The Kogi State Government on Tuesday granted members of the South-South community residing in the state sewing machines, grinding machines, textile products and cash support of $1.5 million to cushion the economic impact of the removal of fuel subsidies on their businesses.

The Governor’s Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (Rtd), who announced the gesture during a meeting with the Lokoja community, said the move was part of government’s efforts to support small businesses and promote inclusion among all ethnic groups residing in the state.

Omodara also distributed textile materials to women in the community as part of the empowerment package.

Speaking on his background, he noted that he began his military career in the South-South Region as a Naval Instructor in Rivers State and commended the community leadership for promoting unity among indigenous people of South-South states living in Kogi State.

He praised the president of the community, the Hon. Mike Abu, who also serves as the Special Adviser to the Governor on South-South Affairs, for his leadership and member coordination role.

Highlighting some achievements of the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, Omodara listed ongoing projects including the proposed international airport, an international market and construction of 10 kilometer roads in each of the 21 local government areas of the state, among others.
