Less than four days after Bruno Labbadia was announced as the new coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, the German has resigned.
Labbadia, who was due to lead the Nigerian national team into their next matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda in the coming days, has now turned down the chance to coach the team.
Ripples Nigeria had reported on Tuesday, the announcement by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) appointing Labbadia as the new head coach for the Super Eagles.
However, according to German news outlet Kicker, the NFF failed to reach an agreement with the 58-year-old before making the announcement.

The former striker, according to the publication, began negotiations with the NFF last weekend.
Labbadia is said to be attracted to the job despite the challenges.
The offer from the NFF was also attractive, especially from a sporting point of view, but the two parties could not reach an agreement due to organizational issues that could not be resolved in the short time available.
Labbadia was previously expected to take charge of the Super Eagles for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda, but now, Technical Director, Augustine Eguavoen could take over.
