Manchester United are interested in Brighton captain Dunk

Manchester United have been linked with a move for Brighton and Hove Albion captain Lewis Dunk, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes (via GIVEMESPORT).

Dunk’s experience in the top flight has sparked interest from United, who are said to be big admirers of the player.

Despite signing centre-backs Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt in the summer, the Red Devils could be looking for another reinforcement in this area of the pitch in 2025, with the contracts of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof expiring in 12 months.

It is understood United would like to replace the duo with a player of similar experience and available at a cut-price, as is likely to be the case with Dunk as his own deal nears its end.

Born in Brighton, Dunk joined his boyhood club at the age of 11 and eventually broke into the first team during the 2010/11 season.

Establishing himself as a staple in the south coast side’s backline, the former Bristol City loanee led the side to promotion to the Premier League in 2017 and was eventually rewarded with the captaincy at the start of the 2019/20 campaign.

Having made 459 appearances for Brighton, Dunk could be attracted by a new challenge if one presents itself.

He turns 33 in November and with just two years left on his contract, his time at Sussex could be drawing to a close.
