Eunice Ameh, a lawyer who lives in Abuja and serves as a member of the National Youth Service Corps, has regained her freedom after being declared missing for several days.
His release was confirmed on Sunday by human rights lawyer Festus Ogun, who revealed the development through a post on his X account.
According to Ogun, Ameh was released after a ransom payment was made, although he did not reveal the amount of the ransom.
“Eunice, the Abuja lawyer who was previously kidnapped, has been released, after paying ransom.”
Ameh was reportedly kidnapped on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, shortly after finishing his work in the Maitama district of the Federal Capital Territory.
He was eventually found and released on Sunday.
A source close to the family also confirmed the development earlier in the day, and said that the young lawyer was found safe.
“Eunice was found unharmed this morning (Sunday),” the source said.
His disappearance has sparked unease in the legal community, with the Nigerian Bar Association calling on security agencies to intensify efforts to secure his release.
NBA President Afam Osigwe, in a statement issued on Saturday evening, described the situation as painful and emotionally significant for members of the legal profession across the country.
“When a young lawyer goes missing, the pain is not only felt by the Nigerian Bar Association; it is personal.

“We are more than a professional body; we are a community bound by shared sacrifice, shared dreams and a collective duty to defend one another,” the statement read.
Reports indicate that Ameh recently worked as a Sales Manager at Blades and Butchers Ltd, a company located at Lake Chad Crescent in Maitama, Abuja.
He was said to have resumed his role just weeks before the incident while completing his NYSC program.
Family members revealed that he was last seen at around 5.40pm on the day he disappeared while returning from work to his residence at the corps members’ lodge in the Life Camp area of Abuja.
The matter was then reported to the Maitama Police Division, while officials of the National Youth Service Corps were also informed as efforts to trace his whereabouts intensified, according to SaharaReporters.
