More than 1.3 million people registered to run in the 2027 London Marathon

The 2027 London Marathon has received an unprecedented number of entries through public voting, setting a new participation record.

Organizers revealed that 1,338,544 people registered for the race scheduled for April 25, surpassing the previous record of 1,133,813 participants recorded last year.

Meanwhile, the 2026 edition of the marathon recorded 59,830 participants, making it the largest annual one-day fundraising event globally.

“This incredible number of applicants makes London the most sought after marathon in the world,” said Hugh Brasher, chief executive of London Marathon Events.

“There’s nothing else that can compare. Our mission is to inspire people of all ages and abilities to get active – and these incredible figures show the huge appeal and power of the London Marathon.”

Voting results will be announced in early July, and places allocated via random draw.

Meanwhile, the possibility of holding the 2027 London Marathon over two days – Saturday and Sunday – is still being explored.
