Murder of the Plateau: Like the former Gov Jang, Mutfwang said the attacker was known, failed to mention their names

The Governor of the State of Plateau, Caleb Mutfwang has stated that the attackers who attacked the Bassa Regional Government community that caused the death of many people to be known.

Mutfwang stated this when he visited the villages of Zilke and Kimakpa in the Kwall Miango District in Bassa on Tuesday after the alleged attack by Fulani militia where more than 50 people including women and children who were horribly slaughtered.

“The people behind this attack are not visible -they are known, and anyone who protects him is equally guilty,” he said.

The declaration followed that the former Governor of the State, Senator Jonah David Jang who in a statement had stated that the attackers who killed innocent people in the state were known.

Jang blamed the description of the Tinubu Bola President about the wave of attacks in the state as a mere communal clash, saying the murder witnessed in several communities in all states was none other than genocide against the people.

The former governor described that violence was not only very painful but governed by a group known as a hidden agenda.

According to him, “attacks in the state of the highlands are not only communal disputes; they are carried out by groups known to certain agendas.

“It is very important for the president to understand the true nature of this attack to overcome it effectively,” he added, without pointing in a certain direction.

Mutfwang, like Jang also failed to mention the people behind the attack, or when and how they would be taken to the book.

Governor Mutfwang during the visit, blamed the attack and apologized to the Bassa community, the regional government area for the failure of the government and security agencies to protect life and property.

When talking to people at the Palace of the Ruler of the Most important land of Irigwe, Ronku alias, who is a brangwe of Irigwe, the governor said it was coded at the devastating and naughty murder and the destruction of property.

“I will tell the truth: I have cried since yesterday (Monday) because I have trusted God that all arrangements are imposed, that this will not happen again. We have made investment in security,” he said.

“But like all human arrangements, sometimes they fail. I want to admit that on Sunday night to Monday morning, we disappoint you. Please, forgive me.

“All countries stand with you in mourning, and so do the international community. Since yesterday, I have been overwhelmed by sadness.

“We take all the steps needed to avoid this, but we disappoint you. On behalf of the government and security institutions, we ask for your forgiveness.

He also highlighted the worsening infrastructure in the region, deteriorating by insecurity and neglect for years and urged people not to give in in their efforts to secure their community and ensure that they complement the efforts of security agents by providing important information for intelligence collection and exposing criminals.
