NAF kills 28 suspected terrorists in Niger airstrike

The air component of Operation Whirl Punch on Wednesday killed 28 suspected terrorists in Shiroro Local Government Area of ​​Niger State.

The Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Group Captain Kabiru Ali, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.

He says:

“The mission targeted terrorists in Bassa, after receiving a request for air support from allied forces in the area,” Ali said.

“Upon arrival, Nigerian Air Force (NAF) air assets observed over 100 terrorists engaged in intense firefights with friendly forces. After ascertaining the position of friendly forces, NAF conducted precision airstrikes on terrorist positions.

“The attack was very powerful, neutralizing dozens of terrorists in several consecutive attacks. As of the time of this report, 28 bodies have been recovered from the target area, while some terrorists, weapons and burnt motorcycles are still being cleared.

“This successful operation underscores the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to protecting the nation and supporting other Air Force and security agencies in the fight against banditry, terrorism, insurgency and all other forms of criminality.”
