In a strategic move to strengthen the performance of our team, we are pleased to announce the appointment of the Mangwas Ayuba coach before the press as our new technical consultant on a two -seasons contract, starting from the Nigeria Premier Football League season in Nigeria.
This followed the mutual departure of our former coach, Salisu Yusuf, who has now left us to join a team of the Benin Republic, after successfully avoided the relegation of last season.
Mangut Mbwas brings vast experience and proven experience in managing football.
The 47 -year -old Plateau Mbwas, born in a state that previously trained the parts of the notable club in Nigeria, including Heartland FC of Owerri, Wikki Tourists FC of Bauchi and Enugu Rangers FC, holds a Coaching Caf B Coaching certificate, the second football coaching certificate in Africa.
He led the Alteau United FC to 7th place in the recent season of Football League of the Nigeria Premier of 2024/25.
As a player, Mbwas presented in the foreground for famous football teams all over the world as Jos’s Mighty Jets International FC; Port-Haccourt sharks, now renamed United FC Rivers; American de Call and Deportivo de Cali della Colombia; FC lens of France; Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia; Al-Arabi Doha of Qatar; and NGC de Vasco de Gama of India.
He won the Asian Champions of Champions League title with Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia; Winner of the second classified with deceased Port-Haccourt sharks and won the All Arab cup in Riyad, Saudi Arabia, with Al-Hilal.
According to the president of our club, Solomon Babanjah, he said: “We are excited to welcome our new technical adviser, Mangut Mbwas, who is one of the best coaches in the country, for the family.
“The coach Mbwas’s appointment marks the beginning of a new chapter for our team while we try to rely on the results of last season and push for greater success in the Elite League.
“Our new technical consultant has a profound understanding of the game and NPFL, having previously worked with the best clubs in the championship.
“His coaching philosophy aligns with our club ambitions, guaranteeing a transition without continuity and a bright future for solid miners.”
The president of the club appreciated the governor Abdullahi on his continuous support for the team, promising to deliver the club’s mandate.
He also thanked the deputy governor, dr. Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe, for his paternal councilor, also recognizing the numerous contributions and the guide of the Ministry of the State of Youth and Sports Development under the guidance of the commissioner, the Hon. Kwanta Yakubu, as well as the Salisu Galadima led by Nasarawa State Football Association and other critical interested parties.
The Mbwas coach for his part expressed joy for the signature of the contract with Nasarawa United.
“I am very aware that many other coaches have applied for this job, but I feel good for the opportunity you give me what I can do best.
“First of all, we have the mind and plans on what to do and this time, we must act differently to obtain our necessary results.
“He expects a lot from this team, but my joy is that both the government and the interested parties are strongly behind the team and, by grace of God, we will achieve success together.
“With what I came to meet on the ground, there is only a minimum work to do to achieve our goals and I will work alongside all the key interested parties to implement our goals and aspirations set, in particular to convince the team to play on continental football again.
“The team ended strongly last season and all you need are some exceptional players to fortify the team to compete at the highest levels,” Coach Mangut revealed.
Nasarawa United, who currently participate in the football tournament of the Pre-Stagionale Cup of Gusau/Ahlan in Lafia, will begin their NPFL campaign of 2025/26 with a trip to Minna, in the state of the Niger, to face the Tornado del Niger on Sunday, 24 August 2025, which is the first official Mbwas test in the League with Solid Miners.
The presentation ceremony of the Mbwas coach held at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development on Wednesday, in Lafia, was testified by a handful of football stakeholders, including Sports Director, Ministry of the State of Youth and Sport of Nasarawa, Mallam Ubah Musa; President of Nasarawa State Football Association, Salisu Galadima; Members of the Board of Directors of Nasarawa United FC; Coaches; and representatives of the Nasarawa supporters Club United FC.
