When people ask me for money, I’m no saint—sometimes I have it and just don’t want to give, but I simply tell them politely and calmly that I don't have it. Did you really have to say the guy has no value? Everyone has worth and serves a purpose. Looking at the conversation, it’s clear he held you in high regard. He’s known you for a long time, which is the only reason he reached out to ask you in the first place. Nasbio, it was obvious the guy was broke and needed help. If you couldn't assist him, you should have just turned him down quietly to keep his dignity intact.
