NCAA prohibits airplane mode, orders phones during take-off, landing-thage

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) ordered that all cell phones were off during take -off and landing.

The general manager of the authority, Captain Chris Najomo, announced the directive in a meeting of the interested parties held on Tuesday in Abuja.

By underlining that the “flight mode” option will no longer be allowed, Najomo has directed that all passengers must now completely deactivate electronic devices during flights.

“All mobile phones, I repeat, all cell phones and other portable electronic devices must be off during at least the critical flight phase on all Nigerian airlines. Scatenes.

Najomo added that difficult measures had been implemented to face the growing trend of the behavior of unruly passengers in the country’s airports, warning that the “business as usual” era is over.

“And, you know, I had to call this meeting of the interested parties because, going further, we know what are the responsibilities of the airlines, what are the responsibilities of the passengers and where the CA, the Faan and the Avasec stop. I can assure you that we have told us. More than their responsibilities and go further, things will not be so usual as if you are unbiscrupted, you are unruly.

“So, see, we have a new start from where we are. It will not be business as usual. I can assure you. It will not do so. And I also want to tell the operators of the airlines here, we will begin to check that you will make adequate training,” he said.

In the meantime, the authority has convened the comfort Emmanson and Juliana Edward, member of the Ibom Air Cabin crew for questioning the controversial Fracas of 10 August which involves Emmanson and Ibom Air Staff during the flight from Uyo to Lagos.

Speaking during the meeting of the interested parties, the director of public affairs and consumer protection at the NCAA, Michael Achimugu, said that the body had already talked to Emmanson on Tuesday. He revealed that Emmanson and the others appear in front of the Authority on Wednesday to continue the investigation

“I spoke to Mrs. Emmanson this morning. We are also inviting the Ibom Air Cabin crew for a continuous investigation on the accident. They will be here tomorrow,” said Achimugu.
