NCoS arrests woman for smuggling drugs into Kuje prison

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has arrested a woman identified as Precious Yusuf who attempted to smuggle substances suspected to be psychoactive drugs into the Kuje Medium Security Detention Centre

A statement released on Wednesday by the public relations officer of the FCT command of the NCoS,
Adamu Duza, deputy superintendent of the prison, said the incident occurred on Tuesday when the woman in question introduced herself as a visitor to one of the inmates.

He added that during the usual routine search by officers on duty, some objects suspected of containing cannabis sativa and other psychoactive substances were hidden in food packages that were to be delivered to the prisoner.

He said that the FCT command prison officer, Ibrahim Usman, has ordered that the suspect be handed over to the relevant security agency for further investigation and prosecution.

He stated: “The Controller warns visitors with such intentions to reconsider, as their machinations will surely be discovered by his eagle-eyed agents.

β€œHe called on the general public and well-meaning Nigerians to support the Nigerian Prison Service in its efforts to reform and rehabilitate criminals, thus promoting public safety.”
