Nigerian Penitentiary (NCOS) services have confirmed the death of one of the officers identified as Shuibu King-David in the Kogi State Jailbreak.
NCOS service public relations officer, Abubakar Umar, said in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.
At least 12 inmates fled from the middle security guard center in Koton-Karfe, Kogi state, on Monday.
Umar stated that the king-david bravely stood on his land to prevent the escape of prisoners and protect the integrity of the custodian center.
The spokesperson added that the bold sacrifice of King-David reflected its unwavering dedication for national services and security.

The statement reads: “Nigerian Penitentiary Services in collaboration with relevant security institutions and communities to reclaim those who are still free and bring them to court.
“In addition, steps are being taken to increase security in all custodian centers throughout the country, to prevent this incident in the future.
“Services remain committed to ensuring the safety of officers and the security of custodian facilities nationally.
“Hopefully the soul of SCA Shuaibu rests in peace, Amen.”
