Neville Okere bows as Asef president after a mandate of three years of success

By SilverNews

After three extraordinary years at the helm of business, Neville Okere has formally delivered the leadership of the Association of Ex-Footballer and friends (ASEF), marking the end of a transformative mandate as president from 2021 to 2024.

In a detailed delivery ceremony held in Owerri, Okere expressed gratitude to God, to the Club customers, the Foundation Council and all the members who were next to the leadership team for a period that described as “marked by unity, growth and considerable resilience”.

We thank omnipotent God. Throughout our mandate, we have not recorded emergencies or victims, a testimony of the divine guide, “he said.

When the Okere administration entered office, they inherited only ₦ 2,500 in the club’s bank account together with the usual official documents, local meshes and accessories. Today, Asef boasts a solid financial base of ₦ 1,157,054, is devoid of debts and has maintained an organ to which they belong to United.

Healing and unity

After taking on the assignment, Okere gave priority to reconciliation, reaching the previously injured members who opposed his emergency. Thanks to the intervention of customer, bots and diaspora members, the unit has been restored, avoiding a potential division of the club.

The one that once seemed the division became a platform for a stronger and united ASEF, “he observed.

Sports results

Despite the security challenges and a hard economy that limits the opportunities for external fixtures, Asef has remained active through the FA veterans tournament. Under the guidance of Okere, the team reached the semifinals in the inaugural edition and ended as classified in the next.

He greeted the lively support of the main parties concerned including the head Edimaragini (young man’s young head), the patron Austin, Barr. Uzoma and others. The lively club of supporters of the club and the technical crew led by Capo Charles Nnadi (Tigana) have also gained special praise.

Recognition of the community and development of the club

Asef’s visibility rose during this period with the lawyer Ifeanyi Dike, a member of the Bot Club, elected president of the Imo State Football Association. The club also hosted the president of the IMO sports commission, the ambassador Eleazar Ogbonna, who donated ₦ 300,000 to the club.

The administration also organized a award ceremony in honor of the main collaborators such as the Hon. Kema Nze and Hon. Nnamdi ihionu. New Bot members have been introduced, including Dike’s lawyer and shepherd Jude Jieme, initials who have collectively increased the club’s financial position.

Transition without interruption

In line with the constitution of the club, an adequately established electoral committee ensured a regular transition. The new president, who was vice -president in the Okere administration, was described by the outgoing president as “a worthy successor who helped to reconstruct the club in his current status”.

Okere concluded with optimism and gratitude:

We return the club in a better form: financially stronger, united and without debts. I am confident that the new manager will go up even higher. To God be glory! “
