They were also accused of embezzling N57.4 billion through the personal account of the Local Government Cashier and other personal and corporate accounts. The state government also alleged that they transferred the funds into dollars for their personal gain.

The charge sheet further alleges that the defendants acquired several properties, including service apartments in Dubai, commercial apartments in Dubai, a multi-billion naira hotel in Abuja, a filling station in Kano and other properties.

The state government has listed 143 witnesses to testify in the case, but no date has been fixed for the matter.

This is not the first time Ganduje has been accused of fraud. On April 4, the Kano government filed a lawsuit against him, his wife and six others, including his son, for alleged fraud.

On July 16, Ganduje and former justice commissioner Musa Lawan were charged with criminal conspiracy and abuse of power.

The Kano government accused Ganduje and Lawan of abuse of office. The case is ongoing.
