BNXN – Shamaya ft. FOLA

Nigerian star BNXN joins forces with FOLA for a new one, called “Shamaya.” I’m already contributing to the US Billboard Afrobeats chart with “Very Soon”.

BNXN is known for making its collaborators sound like featured artists, and FOLA’s library is full of heartfelt, emotionally rich lyrics. So this meeting demonstrated the chemistry.

Their previous collaboration had a deep voice with a contemplative delivery and this one probably retains that emotional line. This connection is what FOLA believes fueled its emergence.

Look for warm, melodic Afrobeat production, the kind BNXN favors in its repertoire. FOLA’s sound is often a fusion of R&B, Pop and Amapiano textures.

Given the strange, even supernatural feel of the title, expect something more emotionally complex than simple. This is in line with both artists’ current series of quiet, contemplative recordings.

In the end, “Shamaya” sounds like another good pairing between two musicians who already know how to work together. Soulful, lyrical, based on real musical confidence.
