NHRC praises the action of the Governor of the Edo State and on the Jungle of Jungle on 16 hunters
Abuja (Reporter Core) The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has strongly condemned the recent gruesome killing of 16 travel hunters in the Edo State, which were exchanged for the kidnappers.
The executive secretary of the Dr. Tony Ojukwu Ofr Commission, San, expressed profound concern for this horrible accident, which highlights the dangers of justice of the crowd and the urgent need for effective law enforcement and respect for human rights.
“On Monday OKPEBHOLO, we praise the governor of the Edo State, for its rapid and decisive action to suspend the commander of the Edo state security body, CP Friday Ibadin (RTD.), And to ban all illegal surveillance groups operating in the state, but the more they must be done” he said.
Chief Human Rights Officer of the country has said that the Commission wishes to exploit this opportunity to remind the government and the people of Nigeria that each individual has the right to life, as sanctioned by chapter 4 of the 1999 Constitution as amended, as well as article 4 of the African Charter on human rights and populations and article 6 of the international article on civil and political rights.
In addition, he said that the Commission stressed that freedom of movement, as guaranteed by the Constitution and article 12 of the African Charter on human rights and people and article 12 of the international alliance on civil and political rights, was seriously violated in this stupid accident.
“We ask the Commission that all the authors are beaten and brought to justice. We ask the Government to take concrete measures to prevent these accidents in the future, there is no justification for the jungle justice anywhere in the world,” he said.
The endowed silk stressed that every Nigerian has the right to life, dignity and freedom from violence, regardless of their ethnicity, religion or employment.
He said the Commission will continue to support the protection of human rights and the rule of law in Nigeria. “We urge the government of the Edo State to continue his investigations on the killings and we guarantee that all the authors face the full anger of the law. For us, we will continue to monitor the investigation process to ensure that justice is served. This will serve as a deterrent for others.
“The promotion and protection of human rights are fundamental for national development, we all absorb the culture of respect for human rights and the fundamental freedom of making Nigeria a better place”. The lawyer of human rights has warned.
