Nigeria: FG induction program for new permanent secretaries, general accounting

The federal government began a three -day induction program for newly appointed permanent secretaries and the general accounting of the Federation.

The program, which began on Wednesday 23 April 2025, at the National Counter Terrorism Center, Abuja, is designed to strengthen strategic leadership and the execution of policies at the highest level of the federal bureaucracy.

Declaring the open program, the head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, congratulated the nominated and described their roles as fundamental for effective governance and national development.

He observed that the permanent secretaries act as a government room, responsible for the implementation of driving policy, institutional services and the reform at the service level.

He urged the induced to support the highest standards of integrity, diligence and team work, underlining that the success of the agenda of renewed hope and the federal strategy of the civil service and the implementation plan 2021-2025 (FCSSIP 25) depends significantly on their leadership.

“This final tour of FCSSIP 25 requires urgency, responsibility and strategic attention. You have to translate the vision into measurable results,” he said.

In his welcome speech, the permanent secretary, a career management office, Mrs. Fatima Sugra Tabi’a Mahmood, described the program as a strategic investment in the leadership capacity and institutional effectiveness.

The sessions have discussions guided by experts, strategic simulations and briefing facilitated by a distinct faculty including ENGR. Suleiman Adamu, former minister of water resources; Dr. Hadiza Bala Usman, special consultant of the President for politics and coordination; Mrs. Beatrice Jedy-Agba, lawyer of the Federation and Permanent Secretary Minister of Federal Justice; Alh. Yusuf Addy, retired federal director; Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji, Cfr, former head of the Civil Service of the Federation; Amb. Mustapha Lawal Suleiman, Mr. Adesola Olusade and Dr. Ifeoma Anagbogu, all retired permanent secretaries.

Participants includes Dr. Obi Emeka Vitalis, Mrs. Fatima Sugra Tabi’a Mahmood, Mr. Danjuma Mohammed Sanusi, Mr. Olusanya Olubunmi, Dr. Keshinro Maryam Ismaila, Dr. Akujobi Chinyere ijeoma, Dr. Umobong Emanso Okop, Dr. Isokpunwu Christopher Osaruwanmwen, Mrs. Oyekunle N. Patience, Dr. Kalba U. Danjuma, Mr. Nadungu Gagare, Mr. Onwusoro I. Maduka, Dr. Usman Salinu, Mr. Ogbodo Chinasa Nnama, Mr. Ndiomu Ebiogeh Philip, Dr. N.
