President Tinubu and Prime Minister Saint Lucia, Philip Pierre, on Sunday signed an agreement on the formation of full diplomatic relations between Nigeria and the Caribbean.
Special advisors about information and strategies to the President, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, revealed this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.
He said the two leaders reached the agreement during the visit of Tinubu’s politeness to Pierre’s official residence on the second day of his state visit to Saint Lucia.
President Tinubu expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and described Saint Lucia as “friends and relatives who were valued.”
The leader of Nigeria appointed historical and cultural bonds that connect Africa and the Caribbean.
“Both of our countries are bound by history, culture, and general aspirations. We are determined to maintain and expand this relationship,” said Tinubu.
Tinubu also advised the improvement of consular services to increase the mobility and support of citizens between the two countries.

“This is a bridge between Africa and the Caribbean, a path to deepen economic ties and foster mutual understanding.
“This reflects our desire to advance prosperity, solidarity, and sustainable development,” he added.
Prime Minister Saint Lucian Pierre welcomed positive momentum in bilateral talks and voiced optimism about the developing partnership.
“There is an atmosphere of enthusiasm and optimism about the future of relations between our countries,” Pierre said.
He pondered the Abadi Saint Lucia relationship with Nigeria, who came from the post-independence era.
“The small size of Saint Lucia did not prevent him from offering one of his best talents to the post-independence development project of Nigeria to Sir Darnley Alexander’s person, as the chairman of the Nigerian fourth court between 1975 and 1979,” PM said.
Pierre outlined the possibility of collaboration, highlighting agriculture, tourism, education, health, culture, and infrastructure.
