Paqueta of West Ham has freed himself from the accusations of bets

The West Ham Lucas Paqueta midfielder was eliminated by the accusations of fixing commercials by an independent regulation commission, announced the club on Thursday.

Brazil International has been accused of four alleged rules of FAI violation (FA) in relation to the matches involving the Premier League team.

It was stated that the 27 -year -old tried directly to influence games intentionally trying to receive a card from the referee to the “improper purpose of influencing the betting market”.

The four accusations against Paqueta referred to a match against Leicester in November 2022 and match against Aston Villa, Leeds and Bournemouth in 2023.

He was facing the prospect of a prohibition of life if declared guilty.

The Brazilian denied the accusations and the independent regulation commission did not find them following an audition.

Fa said that two accusations against Paqueta, linked to the non -collaboration with its investigations, were found demonstrated.

He said that a commission would decide an adequate sanction for proven violations “as soon as possible”.

The Brazilian, who joined West Ham in 2022, said in a club declaration that he had always maintained his “innocence against these extremely serious accusations”.

“I can’t say anything else right now, but I would like to express how grateful I am and how eager to go back to playing football with a smile on the face,” he said.

“For my wife who never let me go, to West Ham United, to the fans who have always cheered me and my family, friends and legal teams who supported me.”

Karren Brady, vice -president of West Ham United, said: “We are pleased that Lucas has been canceled. He kept his innocence from the beginning and as a club we resolved he resolutely and supported him throughout the process”.

Alastair Campbell, partner in terms of law firm and head of the Paqueta legal team, said: “Few cases bring the seriousness of this – professionally, personally and emotionally for our client.

“Lucas faced enormous pressure with considerable strength and resilience.”

Fa said to wait for the written reasons of the independent commission in relation to his decision on the accusations and would not have commented on until then.

The Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali was given a suspended prohibition of two months in May last year for violations of the betting rules.

He came while the Italian International was serving a 10 -month prohibition handed down by the Italian authorities for betting offenses.
