Nigeria’s men’s 4x100m relay team has qualified for the finals of the African Athletics Championships being held in Douala, Cameroon.
In Sunday’s semi-finals, the quartet of Alex Chukwukelu, Emmanuel Ojeli, Alaba Akintola and Usheoritse Itsekiri finished second to reach the final.
Ghana won the race ahead of Nigeria in a time of 39.16 seconds. The final will be played on Monday, June 24, 2024.
Earlier on Sunday, Ese Brume continued her dominance in the women’s long jump by winning gold.
It is his fourth title at the African Athletics Championships since winning his first in 2014 in Marrakech, Morocco.
Temitope Adeshina won silver in the women’s high jump final after the record holder cleared a height of 1.84m.
Rose Yeboah of Ghana won the gold medal with a best effort of 1.87m.
