Nimet provides three days of Sundays on Sunday


The Nigerian meteorological agency (Nimet) has provided for a meteorological perspective throughout the country from Sunday to Tuesday 22 April 2025.

Nimet made this known through its weather prospects published on Saturday 19 April.

The agency has provided for the possibilities of storms located in some parts of Taraba, Adamawa and the southern Kaduna states on Sunday afternoon or evening.

Nimet provides cloudy skies in the northern central region in the morning hours.

He said: “Later, during the day, isolated thunderstorms on parts of the plateau, the territory of the federal capital, the States of Nasarawa, Kwara, Niger and Kogi are expected.

“On the southern region, the cloudy morning is foreseen with the possibility of temporals located on parts of Cross River, Akwa Ibom, rivers and delta states.

“Later during the day, storms are scheduled to be located on parts of Anambra, Oyo, Ondo, Edo, Imo, Abia, Ekiti, Rivers, Cross River, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Delta States.”

The agency provided for the sunny sky in the northern region, with the exception of some parts of Adamawa, Kaduna and Taraba, where isolated thunderstorms are expected on Monday afternoon/evening.

Nimet said: “The sunny skies with few clouds are scheduled for the entire central region of the North during the morning period. Later, during the day, isolated thunderstorms on parts of the plateau, the territory of the federal capital, Benue, Kogi, Kwara and Nasarawa are expected.

“In the southern region, the cloudy skies with sunshine intervals are anticipated with the prospects of morning thunderstorms on parts of Akwa Ibom, rivers and cross rivers.

“In the hours of the afternoon/evening, there are storms located on parts of Ondo, Oyo, Edo, Imo, Abia, Anambra, Lagos, Bayelsa, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Delta States.”

According to Nimet, the sunny skies with a few clouds are foreseen in the northern region during the morning hours on Tuesday with poor possibilities of isolated thunderstorms in some parts of the Taraba state.

He anticipated isolated thunderstorms in some parts of Taraba, Adamawa and Kaduna in the United States later during the day.

The agency observed: “The sunny skies with few clouds are foreseen throughout the central region of the North during the morning period with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms on parts of the States of Benue and Kogi.

“Later during the day, isolated thunderstorms on parts of the plateau, the territory of the federal capital, Benue, Kogi, Kwara and Nasarawa are planned.

“In the southern region, the cloudy skies are anticipated during the morning hours with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms on parts of Cross River, Akwa Ibom and Lagos.”

Nimet included isolated thunderstorms in some parts of Abia, IMO, Ebonyi, Anambra, Oyo, Ekiti, Edo, Ondo, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Rivers and Bayelsa later during the day.

Nimet urged people to remain in well -ventilated and fresh spaces and drink a lot of water since temperatures could be rich in most of the country, putting people at risk of heat stress.

He added: “Made vaccinating against meningitis, practices good hygiene by washing your hands regularly, avoid overcrowding in small spaces, use a mask to reduce the possibilities of infection and avoid close contact with the affected people.

“Avoid the top hours of the sun (from noon at 15:00) and protected by undue exposure to direct sunlight. The strong winds can precede the rains in the areas where temporals are likely to occur.

“The public should take an adequate precaution. Airlines operators are recommended to obtain specific weather reports from the airport (flight documentation) from Nimet for effective planning in their operations.

“Residents are advised to remain informed through the meteorological updates from Nimet.”
