Nipost to charge $ 80 for delivery to us

The Nigeria POS service (Nipost) said that on Friday all international postal shipments from Nigeria to the United States would now attract a compulsory customs Customs of $ 80 (N122,400).

Director of Nipost Corporate Communications, Ibrahim Musa, revealed this in a statement on Friday in Abuja.

He said the action complied with executive orders in the US, which suspended the exception of the free duty in the Global Post delivery.

The statement reads: “Effective August 29, all non-document postal items-including packages and packages-which are determined for the US will withdraw a fixed cost of USD $ 80 or equivalent naira.

“Although this cost is technically a customs fee charged by the US government, Nipost is responsible for its collection.

“This fee must be paid by the customer at the time of receipt at the postal outlet in Nigeria. ”

The Director stressed that the change was part of a broader US policy and affected postal operators around the world, not only them from Nigeria.

He also warned that international cargo operators adopted more careful steps, which might lead to expanded transit and processing time.

Moses showed that this new policy had an impact on logistics and delivery time.

“This new fee and related delays marked a fundamental change in the cost and speed of package delivery to the United States from Nigeria.

“All shipments bound by the US will submit to additional customs inspections at the time of arrival,” the statement added.
