The chapter of the Kano State of the new Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has expelled a member of the House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Jbrin-Kofa, for alleged anti-playful activities.
The president of the state of the NNPP, Hashim Sulaiman-Dungurawa, announced it on Saturday while he informed journalists in Kano.
He said the decision followed the repeated explosions of the media of Jibrin-Koffa against the party and his leadership.
He described the legislator as a “weak politician” whose electoral success was made possible only through the KwankiSiyya movement and the NNPP platform, not personal strength.
“If he were really strong politically, he would have won his election on the APC platform, but he failed.
“It was when he joined Nnpp through Kwankwasiyya who became a member of the Chamber of repetitions. Now he is deceiving himself thinking he was strong,” he said.
He observed that initially a reconciliation committee had been set up to involve Jibrin-Koffa after his interview on the television of the channels, but said that a subsequent exit of the media has shown that he had “crossed the line”.
“Instead of dialogue, he went beyond working against our interest, openly declaring loyalty outside the party. That’s why we have expelled it. He has no value to add,” said the president.
Sulaiman-Dungurawa also accused Jibrin-Koffa of non-compliance with the payment of compulsory party shares, swearing that the NNPP would establish a legal action to recover the funds.
“We will drag him to the court to recover what he owes to the party. It is a constitutional requirement for each member to pay the shares, but he was unable to do it constantly,” he said.
On the speculations that Jibrin-Koffa could return to the APC, the president said that this move would not influence the force of nnpp.
“Politics concerns groups and coalitions and Kwankwasiyya remains solidly behind our leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso,” he added.
