NNPP said the Karkwaso defeat that will soon occur

The New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), which on Sunday, stated assistance on speculation that the 2023 presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso Senator, was able to defect to the Congress of All Progressive (APC) in power.

The attitude was stated on Sunday by the National Secretary of the NNPP, Oginni Olaposi, in response to the resignation of APC National Chairperson Abdullahi Ganduje, which was advised to be linked to negotiations for the entry of Kwankwaso into the party.

Although Ganduje quoted health reasons for resigning last Friday, analysts speculate that their departure might clean the road for the APC -Kankwaso agreement for the 2027 election.

While NNPP refrained from commenting on APC’s internal dynamics, Olaposi admitted that this problem was only because of the ongoing Kwankwaso tension with NNPP.

Olaposie told reporters in Lagos that: “Kwankwaso still insisted that he was a member of our party even after the expulsion for alleged anti -party activities … he not only tried to hijack NNPP but dragged us into the litigation that could be avoided.”

The main point of quarrels is Kankwaso’s attempt to replace the party’s official logo with his personal symbol “Kwankwasiyya”, a step which was then reversed by Inec. Olaposi described this change of branding as a symbol of deeper party disputes.

Referring to the speculation about the potential for kankwaso’s construction of APC, Olaposi states skeptical but also relief:

“We will be happy if there is an agreement proposed between APC and Kwankwaso come true, because the ruling party is in a better position to handle the trunk of the former Kano governor.”

The National Secretary further emphasized the internal strain placed by Kankwaso in the party and praised the founder of Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, who facilitated the ticket of President Kwankwaso in 2023.
