NSCDC charges official over alleged job fraud

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arraigned one of its officials, Mrs Tosin Olagunju, at the Federal High Court, Abuja, for alleged employment fraud.

Olagunju was charged with four counts, namely: fraud with intent to defraud job seekers and criminal conspiracy, among others.

NSCDC accused the accused of receiving N12.4 million from job seekers under false pretenses and promising to provide them with jobs in the agency.

However, he pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Following his request, the prosecution’s counsel, Princewill Eke, asked the court to select a date for the commencement of the trial.

Olagunju’s lawyer, MA Oloniruka, has filed an oral application for his client’s bail.

But Judge Binta Nyako insisted that all applications must be in writing and refused to grant the defendant bail.

He adjourned the matter until October 9 to decide on the bail application and remanded the accused at Suleja correctional centre in Niger State.
