Nusa condemns another attack on 7 Nigerians in South Africa

The Nigerian Union South Africa (Nusa) condemned another brutal attack on Nigerian seven and the kidnapping of an AI Silas on Thursday in Springs, in the province of Gauteng.

Akindle Olunloyo, the secretary of Nusa national advertising, said in a Sunday declaration that Silas was beaten unconscious and forcedly taken by his workplace by a member of the staff of a television station.

The declaration states that the attacker was accompanied by his media team, private security staff and members of the South African police crime prevention unit (Saps) connected to the Springs station.

“Numerous curious have witnessed the attack and kidnapping not caused and nusa obtained the video

Tests showing the Saps officers standing while this atrocious act was committed, “said Nusa.

He said that the behavior by the police represented a serious abandonment of duty and suggested a potential complicity in what constituted multiple criminal offenses pursuant to the South African law.

β€œDespite the extensive research of Modern, hospitals and police stations throughout the province of Gauteng, Silas remains disappeared.

β€œA case of formal kidnapping (case number: 508/4/2025) was recorded at the SPRings Spaps station.

“Nusa’s leadership has been informed that the matter was transferred to the Investigative Police Investigative Directorate (IPID),” he said.

The apical body of the Nigerians in South Africa requested the immediate and unconditional release of Silas on Tuesday at 12.00.

The group also asked for full responsibility for all those involved in its assault and kidnapping, including the

Immediate arrest and suspension of Saps officers who have not been able to prevent the alleged attack.

He also requested a formal investigation and the arrest of the attacker and accomplices for their recurring model of violent xenophobic attacks against Nigerian citizens.

Nusa also asked the South African authorities that the rights of all foreign citizens will be protected as guaranteed by the South African Constitution and international conventions on human rights.

The declaration reminded all the parties involved that the South African law explicitly prohibited acts of torture, aggression and kidnapping pursuant to prevention and fight against torture of persons act 13 of 2013.

The president of Nusa, Smart Nwobi, did, as he asks all the Nigerians in South Africa to remain vigilant and peaceful during this critical period.

“We are in communication with the foreign missions of the Nigerian government in South Africa, international organizations for human rights and the African Union as regards this serious question,” said Nwobi.

He said that Nusa’s requests were not satisfied by the specified deadline, the Nigerian community of Springs had resolved to peacefully occupy the Springs Police Station.

Nwobi added that the union would pursue all the available legal courses
