Ogun APC crisis deepens as Gbenga Daniel declares exclusion from stakeholders meeting

The political crisis rocking the Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress intensified on Monday after former Ogun East governor and senator, Gbenga Daniel, said he was barred from attending a crucial meeting of party stakeholders in Ijebu Ode.

Daniel made this claim in a viral video on Monday, where he was seen addressing supporters from a branded campaign bus at the venue of the meeting, held at the Adeola Odutola Hall.

According to him, despite arriving for what he described as an Ogun East APC caucus meeting, he and his supporters were denied entry by the organisers.

“We are here for our Ogun East APC caucus meeting, but surprisingly, we were barred from entering. We were told that we cannot enter, but let it be said that whatever they do here today is null and void,” he said.

The meeting, called by party leaders at Ijebu Ode, is said to be an emergency meeting of stakeholders, with invitations extended to a wide range of party figures, including deputy governors, past and incumbent local government chairmen, councilors and current and former members of both the state and National Assembly.

PLATFORM TIMES reported that the supporter of the state governor, Dapo Abiodun, took over the meeting and excluded Daniel and his supporters from the meeting

Daniel’s exclusion is expected to increase tensions within the Ogun APC, particularly in the Ogun East senatorial district where political alignments ahead of future elections have continued to generate controversy.

The development adds to growing concerns about internal cohesion within the party, as stakeholders continue to jockey for influence in the build-up to upcoming political contests.
