The state government of Ogun has issued another notice of abandonment to a property connected to the former governor Gbenga Daniel, this time in ijebu-Ode, intensifying the dispute on the alleged violation of the laws on urban planning.
The last notice, served by the authorization and development authority of the State of Ogun and sighted since the time of the platform, directs the owner or occupant of the ijebu-Ode property to leave the premises within a established period or a demolition of the risk.
According to the notice, the order follows the previous directives of violation and stop-work issued to the owner of the property.
The agency warned that value objects should be removed within the deadline, as it would not be responsible for any losses or damage at the beginning of the demolition.
“This is pursuant to the law on planning and urban and regional state regional and regional development of Ogun n. 61 of 2022 and the regulation of the planning and development permit of the state of Ogun 2022,” said the notice to stop.
The development barely comes weeks after the state government has taken a similar stop, sealing and demolition notices on different properties owned by Daniel in Sagamu, before withdrawing them later.
Wednesday, the government extended the deadline for owners interested in submitting relevant documents for verification.
However, Daniel, now senator in service that represents Ogun East, has taken legal actions against the governor Dapo Inhabitun and other state officials, trying an order that prevents them from demolishing his properties.
The case is currently before the court, adding a new layer of legal and political tension to the dispute between the former governor and the administration in office.
