Opposition will defeat Tinubu in 2027 no matter what – Galadima…

Opposition leader Alhaji Buba Galadima has made one of the most startling statements of the emerging 2027 election season, saying that any candidate – alive or dead – could defeat President Bola Tinubu at the polls.

“Even if there is no living human being in Nigeria and we bring a dead body in a coffin and turn it against President Tinubu, I assure you that that dead body will win the elections in 2027,” Galadima said on Tuesday to applause at the national convention of the African Democratic Congress in Abuja.

The former ally of former President Muhammadu Buhari took the opportunity to commend the ADC for going ahead with his convention despite what he described as deliberate attempts by the federal government to frustrate the event.

Galadima said the conference venue was almost withdrawn at the last minute after its owner was threatened with revoking his certificate of occupancy if he allowed the meeting to take place.

“Yesterday around 1am we received a message that the venue had actually been canceled because the owner was under threat from the powers that be,” he said, adding that organizers decided to hold the event despite the pressure.

“The person I was sitting with asked me my opinion, and my opinion was simply that even if Abuja burns to ashes today, we will hold this convention in this hall. And so we did,” Galadima said.

He saw the convention’s success as proof of the opposition’s resilience, but warned that more restrictive measures could follow.

“This is a proving ground. Didn’t we have this convention here today? They might not even allow us to campaign in Nigeria,” he warned.

Galadima also accused the All Progressives Congress of orchestrating a systematic campaign to weaken opposition parties ahead of 2027, naming the People’s Democratic Party, the Social Democratic Party, the New Nigeria People’s Party, the Labor Party and the ADC himself as targets.

“We have seen that the APC and its government have sought to destroy the PDP, the SDP, the NNPP, the Labor Party and indeed the ADC,” he said.

The opposition figure urged political actors to resist any attempts to dictate the direction of opposition politics in the country, saying boldness and decisiveness are the only tools available to those seeking a change of government.

“We must resist any attempt to intimidate or frustrate us. We must resist and say no. Only our resilience, boldness and courage will set us free,” he said.
