Orders of the TSTV MD court, Bright Echefu to pay the former minister …

A high Court in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) ordered Bright Echefu, CEO of Telcom Satellites Limited (TSTV), to pay $ 1.42 million and a debt of N938 million to Kabir Tanimu Turaki, a former minister of special duties.

In a sentence of July 7, Bello Kawu, the judge, said that Echefu’s loans are “contractually executive”.

Echefu, a doctor, launched TSTV in 2017 with a low-cost “pay-per-view”, but since then he has fought with funding, then the loans obtained by the former minister. TSTV stopped providing services in 2023, however, Echefu launched Luft TV, another satellite television activity. According to Turaki’s declaration under the oath, the TSTV MD obtained loans with false claims.

The former minister said that under Echefu’s pressure, the accused was introduced to Tudu Ventures in Nigeria, where he obtained the sums of n1.2 billion, N800 million, $ 1.6 million and $ 500,000.

The defendants presumably failed to reimburse the loans, pushing Tudu Ventures to present a separate cause (FCT/HC/CV/1588/21) to recover the funds. The partial judgment in favor of Tudu Ventures was inserted against TSTV and his MD on November 22, 2022.
