Situation after attacks

Benue State continues to sink more deeply into trouble and, from the appearance of things, it seems the governor of the state, the reverend alia has no response for the continuous insecurity in the state.

Gradually, while Benue sinks deeper into insecurity, he is checking all the boxes for the declaration of an emergency rule while the armed militia and the Mandini move towards the fall of the state capital. Over the past 3 months, over 1,500 people have been killed and not numerous displaced people.
The state government seems totally unprepared to arrest the situation.

On Friday 13 June 2025, the men of the Army Militia attacked Yelewata and the communities of Daudu in the area of Guma’s local government in Benue’s state.

About 200 people, including internal displaced people, IDPs and five soldiers were feared dead in the attack. Some victims have been burned beyond recognition in their homes.

In addition, two soldiers, civil defense officers and two police officers were kidnapped.

State residents continue to live in fear as the armed militia are almost taking control of the state.

Gradually, the militia is moving towards the conquest of the capital of the state and the residents came to the conclusion that the reverend alia is unable to guarantee the state more.

Some residents of the state even ask for the intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Many even ask for the imposition of the emergency rule in the state if it will bring peace to the state
