Randy Waldrum’s team will begin their quest for a podium place in Paris with a Group C clash against the South Americans in Bordeaux on Thursday, July 25.
Brazil, known for its strong football tradition, poses a significant challenge.
Payne, however, expressed confidence in the Super Falcons and the team’s capabilities, stating that they are on par with the Brazilians.
“Brazil is a tough and talented team, but like Nigeria, we are at their level and it will be a good match,” he said.
Payne, who starred with the Super Falcons during the last Women’s World Cup in New Zealand and Australia, is eager to make her mark at the Olympics.
“Playing in the World Cup was an incredible experience and being able to compete internationally with this team again is a good opportunity and I am excited,” the former Sevilla star told NFF TV.
In addition to Brazil, the Nigerian team will face formidable opponents, reigning world champions Spain and Japan, in the same group.
