The Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja has announced that air passengers will face delayed boarding and temporary disruption, which it said would affect flight operations at its domestic terminals.
According to an operational update on Monday, the disruption caused by a technical issue with baggage screening equipment within the terminal will specifically impact baggage processing and slow down standard processing procedures.
“We understand the distress and uncertainty this may cause and truly appreciate your patience during this time,” the statement read in part.
To minimize disruption, airport management said it has proactively activated alternative screening procedures using available equipment to ensure flights continue to operate safely.
However, these additional steps may result in longer processing times and possible delays for some departures.
“Our ground teams are fully mobilized and available to support passengers, provide updates and prioritize affected flights.
“We are also working closely with airport authorities to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and restore normal operations,” the update reads.
The airport management has assured that it is doing everything in its power to speed up the process and reduce the impact on customers’ travel plans.
“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
“We ensure further updates as the situation improves,” the statement added.
