The Democratic Party of the Peoples (PDP) has scheduled its national convention to hold between Thursday 28 August and Saturday 30 August 2025.
The national president of the party acting, Amb. Iliyasu Umar Damagum, revealed it at the end of the 99th meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC), held on Tuesday at the National Secretariat of the Party in Abuja.
A press release signed by Damagum revealed that the NEC recognized the resolution of the South Zonal Manager -East concerning the position of the National Party Secretary. However, he decided to defer an action on the issue until the next meeting scheduled for Monday 30 June 2025.
In a move to consolidate the processes of the internal party, the NEC has ratified the composition of the committees that will guide the national convention.
The organizing committee of the National Convention will be chaired by the Governor Ahmadu Fingi (Adamawa), with the governor Ademola Adeleke (Osun) as vice -president and governor Peter Mbah (Enugu) as secretary.
The subdivision committee in Zone will be led by the governor Douye Diri (Bayelsa) as President, Governor Dauda Lawal (Zamfara) as Vice President and Governor Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau) as secretary
Othering Inscubility Insurance, economic drivers and political jamming as indicators of systemic founded, the NEC condemned what described as “the irredemita federal government of exploitation, insensitive and anti-population” of the federal government of all progressive congress (APC).
“NEC condemns the worsening of insycitude – Wanton’s murders, bandits, kidnappings and terrorism – marked by the apparent negligence and abdication of President Tinubu of his constitutional duty to protect the Nigerians”, the press release read.
The party also warned by what he called a “left conspiracy to transform Nigeria into a party state”.
“The APC led by Tinubu is openly threatening the opposition parties and democratic institutions in desperate attempt to avoid electoral defeat in 2027,” he said.
By reducing its commitment to democratic values, the state of law and multi -party policy, the NEC has assured that the PDP remains “strong, resilient, united and determined” to guide the accusation to save the country from what calls the “Vizioso socket of the APC”.
The meeting was all the members of the NWC of the party, the governors of Bauchi, Enugu, Adamawa, Taraba, Oyo, Osun, Zamfara and Bayelsa present to members of the Foundation Council, the party presidents and the members of the National Party Assembly.
