The police operation in Ondo has arrested 10 suspects in connection with the attempted murder and armed robbery attack on the Igoba community, Akure North Government Area in the state.
Spokesman for the State Police Command, Sports Ayanlade, revealed this in a statement on Saturday at Akure.
He said the suspects were arrested after an attack on a Ny. Ogunoye Oluomo and efforts to kill the traditional rulers of the community, Oba Adinlewa John, on October 2.
According to him, a group of criminals armed with firearms, knives, charm, and other dangerous weapons invaded the community with the intention to bring disaster on that day.
The spokesman said: “After receiving an emergency call, police commissioner, Ondo State Command, Adebowale Lawal CP, immediately directed all operational assets needed and labor to the area.

“The operation was led by the Assistant Commissioner of the Police who was responsible for the operation, while the tactical team made the arrest of 10 suspects.
“The suspects have recognized their various roles in riots and all will be prosecuted after the investigation.
“The items found from the suspects include two pistols made locally, one single barrel weapon, several rounds of live ammunition, various kinds of charm, knives and machetes, and other dangerous weapons used during the attack.
“Victims who are injured are currently receiving medical treatment and responding positively, while efforts are ongoing to track other suspects who escaped.
“Since then normalized has been restored to the Igoba community, with the presence of security reinforced to prevent further destruction of law and order.”
