Police Arrest Man For Using Nasarawa GovernorThe Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a 58-year-old man, Shuaibu Isiaka, for allegedly defrauding a member of the public by falsely claiming to have links to the state governor. The command’s spokesperson, DSP Ramhan Nansel, who made the disclosure in a statement on Sunday, August 11, said the suspect allegedly obtained N17 million from the victim under the guise of receiving a contract offer from the Nasarawa State Government. “Police officers attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department of the Nasarawa State Police Command have arrested one Shuaibu Isiaka, alias Ziko ‘M’, 58 of Tudun Gwandara, Lafia, for mentioning the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State and defrauding an unsuspecting member of the public to the tune of Seventeen Million (#17,000,000) Naira,” the statement read. “The arrest was consequent to a petition filed against the suspect who obtained money under false pretenses from the victim under the guise of a contract offer from the Nasarawa State Government. “Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to committing the crime but stated that the amount obtained from the victim was fourteen million and not seventeen million as claimed. “The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada, has ordered a thorough investigation into the case and instructed investigators to prosecute anyone found to be linked to the commission of the crime, no matter how high up in the ranking. “He therefore urged members of the public to be wary of cunning criminals who have mastered the act of speaking about famous people to impress, lest they fall prey to their antics.”
