The Wike faction of the PDP has announced the sale of nomination forms ahead of the national convention

A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) backed by Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, has announced the start of sale of nomination forms ahead of the upcoming national convention.

The party faction announced this on Monday following the 107th National Executive Committee meeting held in Abuja.

The national convention is planned to be held on March 29 and 30.

In a communiqué issued after the meeting, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the PDP National Caretaker Working Committee, Abdulrahman Mohammed, and Samuel Anyanwu, the party said: “The NEC notes that the sale of nomination forms for the forthcoming national convention has commenced.

“All interested candidates are advised to adhere to the approved guidelines and timelines issued by the party.”

The NEC also reaffirmed the zoning formula for nationally elective positions, indicating that the distribution of offices would follow arrangements designed to balance regional interests.

According to the communique, “Zoning arrangements will be the guiding framework for the upcoming National Convention.”

Party leaders used the meeting to emphasize readiness for the convention, and directed relevant committees to ensure a smooth process under the theme, “An inclusive, united and renewed convention.”

The meeting took place in the midst of a prolonged leadership crisis that has hit the party since November 2025.

Speaking at the NEC meeting, Mohammed told party leaders that recent state and zonal congresses had been largely successful, although he acknowledged underlying tensions within the party.

“We have made significant progress in stabilizing our structure and restoring confidence in our party.

“There are no winners and no losers—there is only a shared commitment to rebuild, reposition and strengthen our party,” Mohammed said.

He added that recent court decisions had been handled “in a spirit of reconciliation and inclusion,” and urged members to overcome divisions.

“Our party remains open to constructive engagement, dialogue and reconciliation,” he said.

Mohammed described the planned convention as “an important milestone that will determine the future direction of our party.”

He asked party members to avoid actions that could deepen internal divisions.
