Police agents in Kaduna have arrested 10 suspected logistics suppliers to bandits and recovered eight firearms in separate operations across the state.
This was disclosed by the Spokesman of the State Police Command, Mansir Hassan, in a statement issued on Friday in Kaduna.
Hassan said the breakthrough followed investigations into cases of criminal conspiracy and illegal trafficking of firearms and ammunition transferred from the Ikara Divisional Headquarters on May 1.
He added that officers from the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested Haruna Dauda, Meshack John, Iliya Dangi, Joshua Maigida and Audu Musa during the operation.
According to him, officers found four fake AK-47 weapons and two fake pistols from the suspects.
He said initial investigations revealed that the suspects were involved in selling illegal arms and ammunition to bandits operating in Ikara and surrounding communities.
The spokesperson added that the suspects also admitted to supplying weapons to other previously arrested suspects identified as Timothy Yohana, Ado Mato and Hamisu Yalwa, all from the Ikara area.
Hassan said investigations were underway to uncover the entire syndicate and arrest other accomplices.
