The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has deployed personnel and equipment to prevent a breakdown of law and order ahead of the #FearlessInOctober protests planned for Tuesday across the country.
The command spokesperson, Josephine Addeh, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.
He said traffic will be diverted in areas expected to see large crowds, including the Central Area and Eagle Square.
The statement read:
“The FCT Police Command in anticipation of the upcoming October 1 Independence Day celebrations, has strategically deployed adequate personnel and equipment across the FCT.

“This proactive deployment aims to ensure FCT residents enjoy unhindered Independence Day celebrations. The deployment will include Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) personnel, anti-riot equipment, visibility policies, and more.
“Traffic diversions will be implemented in areas expected to experience large crowds, including the Central Area and Eagle Square.
“During the celebration of Independence Day, FCT residents are advised to remain alert and report any suspicious movement or activity to the FCT Police emergency line: 08032003913, 08028940883, 08061581938, 07057337653, PCB: 09022222352, CRU: 08107314192.”
