Police officer killed in Lagos Third Mainland Bridge accident

A police officer died in a fatal crash on the Third Mainland Bridge on Sunday.

General Manager of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA),
Olalekan Bakare-Oki confirmed this in a statement issued in Ikeja.

The accident occurred when a Lexus vehicle (EPE 765 JN) hit a police officer riding a Bajaj motorbike at the Iyana Oworo entrance bridge.

He said: “The officer died on the spot. The driver of the Lexus reportedly surrendered himself to the Adekunle Police Division shortly after the accident.”

“Following the emergency call, LASTMA officials, in collaboration with Nigerian Police officers, arrived to direct traffic and initiate emergency response.

“Traffic cones and safety devices were strategically placed to prevent further accidents, while police officers documented the incident.

“Coordinated evacuation operations removed affected vehicles and restored normal traffic flow along the Third Mainland Bridge.”
