Portable sent to police custody

Singer Nigerian Streethop Habeeb Okikiola, who is known among music as a portable, still cools his heel in police custody after failing to meet the guarantee requirements.

The controversial musician was given a guarantee of N1 million by the upper regional court in Ilorin, the state of Kwara, in connection with the defamation suit filed with him by his senior colleague Saheed Osupa.

The verdict was made on Monday, April 14, after portable was charged with defamation of criminal names, intimidation, inciting public disturbances, and cyberstalking Saheed Osupa.

This case was postponed until 30 April 2025, after the chairman’s court, Hon. Sunday Adeniyi, provides portable guarantees in the amount of N1 million and two guarantees.

However, the portable remains detained at the closing process, after failing to meet the guarantee requirements which stipulates that it must provide two guarantees of the same amount.

The court decided that one of the guarantees must be a senior official of the Association of Nigeria’s Appearance Musicians (PMAN), and others are property owners in the Ilorin government area (GRA), with a valid residential certificate.
