As citizens across Bong County continue to advocate for meaningful development initiatives, several residents have voiced concerns over alleged political interference by Senator Prince Moye in the operations of the Bong County Council.

Gbarnga, Bong County, April 10, 2025: Several radio callers have accused Senator Moye of exerting undue pressure on council members to approve and implement politically motivated projects that, according to them, do not reflect the county’s immediate needs and priorities.
Reports suggest that the senator recently invited all nine council members to his residence in Monrovia.
During their visit, he allegedly influenced the council’s decision to accept an already approved sum of $280,000 USD from the County Administration. Many believe this directive is delaying the implementation of more pressing development priorities.
Despite the mounting allegations, Senator Moye has remained firm in defending the council’s current development plans, including the controversial renovation of the Presidential Palace in Gbarnga.
However, the council’s Co-chair, Maveline Lepukoi, has publicly objected to the use of county funds for the palace renovation.
She argues that the facility falls directly under the jurisdiction of the President’s office, and therefore, it should be the responsibility of the national government to finance its refurbishment—not Bong County.
Co-chair Lepukoi stressed that the $280,000 USD should have been directed toward more urgent needs, such as the procurement of essential medical drugs for health facilities across the county.
She described the use of funds for the palace project as a misapplication of public resources and has called on all citizens of Bong County to hold those responsible accountable.
However, the Bong County senator has remained tight-lipped on the matter, despite being contacted via phone calls and text messages by this platform for respond.-Edited by Othello B. Garblah.
