Segun Showunmi, the prominent ally of Atiku Abubakar and a former spokesman for the People’s Democratic Party Presidential Campaign (PDP), had made a surprise visit to the Tinubu Bola President at his personal residence in Lagos, increasing new speculation about political aliasization ahead of the 2027 election.
Showunmi, who once competed for the PDP Governor’s ticket in the State of Ogun, shared a photo of himself and the president on the X account (previously Twitter) verified on Sunday. In the picture, the two men stood side by side, smiling visuals that since then have awakened a considerable conversation in politics.
“Sallah 3 day! I spent quality time with the President and Commander of the Nigerian armed forces, @officiabat GCFR. That is interesting and nostalgic,” Showunmi wrote at the Post.
According to him, the visit formed part of his Eid celebration and gave a moment for reflection, honest involvement, and re-connection with President Tinubu.

This meeting added to the list of meetings that continued to increase between Tinubu and former PDP figures, intensify talks about cross -party relations and potential changes in political loyalty. Analysts said such a visit was being closely monitored as a possible indicator of the dynamics of the power that developed ahead of the next election cycle.
The visit also came a few months after Daniel Bwala, a former spokesman for the 2023 Atiku Presidential Campaign Team, was appointed by President Tinubu as a special advisor for public communication and the media – the development that surprised many people in PDP and APC.
When Nigerian political landscape began to take the initial form before 2027, visits like Showunmi were seen as more than just a vacation politeness – they were seen as a subtle sign of strategic position.
Whether this last meeting indicates that the change in the future of Showunmi’s politics must still be seen, but one thing is clear: the line between friends and enemies in Nigerian politics continues to run away in the re -structuring season.
