SGF warns Scammers who clone telephone, the voice of government officials who are looking for money for the appointment offer

Federation Government Secretary (SGF), Senator George Akume, has warned the Nigerians to be aware of fraudsters disguised as famous people to ask for money with a guise of facilitating the appointment of the federal government.

In a statement issued on Thursday by advisors, especially about the media and publicity, Yomi Odunuga, Akume separated from the scammers who allegedly clone the telephone number and voice to target community members who were not suspicious.

According to SGF, the perpetrators contacted the victims who claimed that they had been elected for the appointment to the council and parastatal, before demanding payments ranging from ₦ 5 million to ₦ 15 million. The victim was reported to be instructed to send their curriculum to the vitae to the email address that was cloned and deposited funds to a bank account, some of which were related to new generation banks and popular cellular money operators in Nigeria.

“The Secretary’s Office for the Federation Government has been flooded with questions related to the activities of these cheating people and groups,” the statement said. “From the information available, fraudsters clone SGF votes to ask for money in return for federal promises.”

Akume stressed that all processes of transparent federal appointment, achievement -based, and can be verified, added that no payment needed at any stage.

SGF confirmed that the relevant security institution had been given a briefing and urged the Nigerians to report suspicious activities to law enforcement while taking the prevention measures needed to avoid falling victims.
