Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has said he is unfazed by social media criticisms, reports Completesports.com.
A number of footballers including Iwobi have suffered abuse on the social media in the past.
The 27-year-old was constantly abused by Everton fans following his arrival from Arsenal in 2019.
The Toffees paid around β¬40m to secure the services of the Nigerian from his boyhood club.
The versatile struggled in his first few months at the Goodison Park.
Iwobi later established himself at the Merseyside and became a popular figure.
The player stated that he is a strong character now and does not think too much about negativity from fans.
βWhen youβre coming onto the scene and doing well, you see fans on social media and in the comments, and you want to see people hyping you up,β Iwobi said in an interview with Forbes.
βIβve also had the hateβthat youβre not good enough. When I moved to Everton, there was a high fee (around β¬40 million or $42 million). Everyone said he costs so much and hasnβt done much. His value is way too high. Iβve seen it all. Iβve seen both sides. Now, Iβm at an age where I donβt look at it anymore.β
