Sokoto: Emir of Jumu’at Mosque, Kiyawa Emir Commission, hails Aliyu’s transformation agenda


The Emir of Kiyawa, Kauran Namoda Emirate in Zamfara State, Major Sanusi Muhammad Asha (Rtd.), on Friday commissioned the Gada Central Jumu’at Mosque, renovated by the Ahmed Aliyu administration.

The monarch described the construction and renovation of mosques as one of the charitable acts encouraged by Islam, stressing that it attracts immense rewards from Almighty Allah.

He commended Governor Aliyu for setting the pace by introducing monthly allowances for mosques, as well as stipends for imams, deputy imams and muazzins across the state, describing the initiative as worthy of emulation by other leaders.

The emir called on the people of Gada to keep the mosque clean and make effective use of it to promote Islamic education and peaceful coexistence within the community.

Speaking at the event, Governor Aliyu said his administration has so far commissioned 43 remodeled and reconstructed Jumu’at mosques across the state, adding that another 12 Jumu’at mosque projects are currently at various stages of completion.

“My dear brothers and sisters, in our determination to ensure that every community has a worthy mosque, we will soon extend the mosque renovation program to Isa, Sabon Birni, Binji, Bunkari, Tangaza,” the governor said.

Governor Aliyu has expressed concern over the deplorable condition of some Islamiyya schools across the state, assuring that his administration will begin the renovation of existing schools and construction of new ones by the end of the year.

He appealed to the people to continue to support and pray for his administration as he strives to transform Sokoto State.

Also speaking, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, represented by the Wazirin Sokoto, Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu, urged the people of Gada to make the mosque a center of learning so that they can better understand the teachings, obligations and prohibitions of Islam.

He commended Governor Aliyu for giving Islamic affairs the attention they deserve and assured him of the continued support of the Sultanate Council.

Earlier, the Sokoto State Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Jabir Sani Mai Hulla, disclosed that the Gada Central Jumu’at Mosque is the second largest mosque to be renovated and commissioned by the current administration.

He thanked Governor Aliyu for giving priority to the propagation of Islam through the renovation of mosques and Islamiyya schools as well as the resuscitation of the Hisbah Council in the state.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Gada Local Government Area, Zayyanu Bara’u Gada, commended Governor Aliyu for the numerous people-friendly projects carried out across the local government.

After the congregational prayer of the two raka’at Jumu’ah special prayers were offered, seeking Allah’s continued protection, guidance and blessings for the leaders of the nation.
