He said that the accident could have derived from a dispute on an unpaid debt, with accusations that suggest that the soldier said that the woman insulted him during a telephone conversation.

According to him, it is also stated that this clash may have intensified in a physical altercation, which is now under investigation.

“Private Christopher Emmanuel is currently in custody and an in -depth investigation will be conducted to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.

“The Nigerian army has no zero tolerance for human rights violations and will undertake disciplinary actions based on the results of the investigations.

“The leadership of the Nigerian army ensures to the general public and the victim that justice will be in line with the high military standards.

“Ottus strongly condemns any form of abuse of indiscipline or human rights by his staff,” he said.

Osabo urged the members of the public to report cases of abuses of the Nigerian army staff to the assistance line for human rights instead of using social media.

He gave the certainty that all the news of infringements from the army staff was seriously seen, investigated and the penalties applied where the staff was found guilty.

“We appreciate your understanding and cooperation,” he added.
